Shivani Patel PT, DPT, graduated as a Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 2002, and later furthered her education to go on to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2008. Shivani has spent most of her career working in outpatient orthopedics, with over 15 years experience split between private practice, and hospital level care in the Chicagoland area.
Shivani believes that physical therapy can be effective for everyone, whether they are dealing with acute injures, or chronic pain. The key to this effectiveness, is feeling comfortable with and confident in, your clinician. With over 15 years experience working with athletes of all ages, weekend warriors, professionals with physically sedentary job duties, labor workers with high physical demand jobs, and people just looking to feel better about their heath and wellness, she has learned that injuries can only be improved when considering the whole entire picture. Being able to consider her patients as more than just “parts” that are painful, is a skill that she has acquired over time, and is a never ending learning process to perfect. This process thrives in an environment where you are afforded the opportunity to spend one on one time with your therapist. Active listening, patience, and evidence-based practice knowledge can guarantee better quality of life.
Shivani loves to travel, especially international travel, and has traveled to every continent on Earth, except Antarctica (bucket-list item). From the bottom of the Grand Canyon, to the (near) top of Mount Kilimanjaro, and from the Highlands of Scotland, to the volcanoes of New Zealand, her passion for travel and hiking combine to take her around the world. Not to mention the food joys she has experienced along the way. She enjoys playing beach and indoor volleyball, and fancies herself an amateur make up artist and skin care expert (she received her degree from the University of Instagram) There isn’t’ a GOOD television show that she hasn’t binged, and thinks Netflix and Hulu are our generations second greatest resources (next to Physical Therapy).

COVID-19 UPDATE: OUR COMMITMENT TO KEEPING PATIENTS AND CLINICIANS SAFE:
We want to thank our patients for their support during this challenging time for our country and local community.
Recently, the state of Illinois was issued a “shelter in place” order for all non-essential activity. Outpatient rehabilitation is one of the essential healthcare services that has been permitted and encouraged to continue to operate in order to keep our patients healthy and out of the emergent medical settings that cannot handle the capacity.
Currently, we are continuing to serve our essential patients and are following CDC, Federal and Illinois Department of Health Recommendations.
We want to stress that we are a small private clinic that only sees patients in a ONE ON ONE setting:
We have spaced out our appointments so that there are no more than yourself and the clinician in the clinic at one time.
We are not allowing any visitors in at this time and we have the ability to maintain adequate spacing to comply with social distancing recommendations set by the CDC.
We are continuing our practice of cleaning by CDC recommended agents in order to keep our facility sanitized.
Our 3 clinicians are practicing good hand hygiene and have enough stock of supplies to meet this expectation.
ADDITIONALLY, WE ARE CONDUCTING COVID-19 screenings at the beginning of all therapy sessions, asking the following questions:
In the last 14 days, have you or anyone in your household traveled to any locations listed on the CDC website, returned from a cruise or knowingly been exposed to anyone with Coronavirus (COVID-19)?
Do you have current flu-like or upper respiratory symptoms, fever, cough or shortness of breath?
If the answer is yes, we are rescheduling all appointments until it is safe to return to therapy.
As an alternative, we are now able to provide telehealth or virtual “e-visits” appointments to select private insurances and Medicare patients.
Please keep us in mind as this is a difficult time for small businesses. We are hoping to be able to continue to provide Physical therapy services for you all once this has passed.
